Professor Fu Shen gave 12 lectures on the history and connoisseurship of traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting at Xixi Campus, Zhejiang University from March to April 2015. This book is the collection of all his 12 lectures.

Fu Shen, born in 1937, obtained his Ph.D. in Chinese history, art and archaeology from Princeton University, and is director of Chinese Art Department, Freer Gallery of Art, the United States since 1979.
